Photojournalism: Introduction
A picture is worth a thousand words, but you only get one sentence to tell the story a picture cannot. That one sentence is called a caption, and it tells who, what, when, where, why, and how about the picture and other details (i.e. a quote or added context) that the photograph can't share alone.
Show me you can write a caption. Download the form below and fill it out using the provided photograph. Use the grading rubric to fill in answers from a '0" level to a '4" level. An example of the project and a detailed rubric is provided, as well.

Photojournalism: Photographic Investigator
Now that we've toured a short history of photojournalism, it's time to go deeper and take on the role of a photographic investigator. Start by choosing one of the thirty photographs reviewed in class. Then, download the worksheet below. Using the context clues from the photograph and the resources provided, find the required information needed to make an emotional, accurate, and engaging piece of writing that tells the story behind the photograph.
