Broadcast Publications
A broadcast publication is a source of information that is first recorded and then transmitted to a wider audience. This can be via a device such as a television, computer, radio, or cell phone. The most popular forms of broadcast are television shows, movies, and radio stations.
Broadcast Commercials
Students were asked to create a :25-:35 commercial that proved their knowledge of the persuasive techniques of advertising, and built on this prior knowledge for a first taste of the last Publications unit: Broadcast! Students had to design costumes, scripts, settings, and lighting to create their final broadcasts which were featured on Lakeview's Live at 7:35 morning news show.

Filming Tips and Tricks
As you watch the video below, write next to each scene on your script what type of shot you will be using. FlipCams have small screens, so an aerial shot and shots like it probably aren't the best choice! For many, like the Swish Pan, you will need a tripod. For items like a Mash Up you'll be able to use those transitions in Microsoft MovieMaker and it won't take any special filming techniques.
Many of you have commercial scripts heavy in dialogue. How do we keep the shots interested while still showing characters and hearing the dialogue? We'll have to whip out a few tricks from photography including the Rule of Thirds! Feel free skip 3:15-6:35; it goes into lenses that our not-so-Hollywood budget isn't going to provide.
What about stage fighting? Watch the video(s) below to figure out how you can safely create the illusion of violence in your video. Do not think that because you're allowed to do these techniques during your commercial that it is appropriate to try these techniques outside of filming (i.e. hallways, other classes, open gym, buses, etc.) Another teacher may not believe that your acting is truly acting and I will not defend you during your administrative conference!
